Cheyenne Weather

Cheyenne has a generally moderate climate and is characterisitic of the high-altitude plains on which it rests. The humidity is very low and the climate is semi-arid.

Summer days generally reach 80 degrees with low temperatures in the 60’s. It rarely gets into the upper 90's and the weather always cools on summer nights. Afternoon thunderstorms are not uncommon.

Winter temperatures usually range from 10 to 30 degrees. Most days are sunny, but the temperatures often drop into the negatives. Cheyenne’s arid climate means

 

 

few days with snow on the ground in the city - but plenty of snow on the nearby ski slopes.

Spring and autumn are favorite times of the year, with a smooth transition between the seasons. Spring and autumn are cool, with spring bringing lots of precipitation.

Throughout the year, Cheyenne’s persistent breeze keeps the air clean and clear.  Even with a long winter season, the sun shines over 260 days a year.
